Don't Stop Be-leafin'
"Will my non-vegan guests actually like the food?"
Every couple asks me that on our first call.
Usually right after telling me about the uncle who says "bean curd" like it's a medical diagnosis.
Here's the nightmare you're picturing:
Half your guests eat a sleeve of crackers in the car "just in case."
They push a limp and lifeless salad around the plate, wishing you didn't have that weird diet or whatever.
Then they hit a drive-thru on the Garden State Parkway. In formalwear.
*cue sad trombone*
Here's what the heck is up:
That nightmare is real. Just not at my events.
Winning over skeptics isn't a side effect of what I do. It's the whole job. I've been doing it since 2008. Lines down the block at a food truck. Corporate meals for 250. Weddings packed with omnivores who swore they'd hate it.
Don't take my word for it, though. Take theirs. →
Don't take my word for it, though. Take theirs.
Everyone I spoke to loved the food, even the vegan skeptical family from Queens.
Will & Lisa · wedding for 114 guests
My mostly-nonvegan guests had no idea that it was vegan, and my very carnivorous brother had seconds!
Wedding client · The Knot
Our families are skeptical omnivores and everyone enjoyed the food, and we received numerous compliments on it.

I didn't think it would be possible to have an entirely vegan wedding, with actually delicious food, until I found Adam. The quality and complexity of his food completely exceeded my expectations - it is SO yummy!
Working with Adam to craft our menu was an absolute dream. He was incredibly timely, organized, helpful, kind and he really cared about making our day special. I'm already trying to come up with a reason to have another event just so I can work with Adam and eat his food again!

Every Rave You Take
What couples say after the last plate is cleared
I am so happy to have brought delicious vegan food to those who wouldn't otherwise choose it. It was one of my main goals with this wedding and I couldn't be happier with the food that Adam and his team made!
His messages throughout the week leading up to the wedding were so thoughtful and special; we felt so at ease.
Jess & SeyiFrom their thank-you noteAdam was lovely to work with, exceeded our expectations, and Lisa is still awe-struck over how beautiful the cake turned out. Everyone I spoke to loved the food, even the vegan skeptical family from Queens.
Will & LisaWedding with an elaborate custom cakeAdam made our wedding so special! The food was delicious, and everyone still raves about his wood fired pizza and yummy desserts. His staff was so friendly and chill, which is exactly what we needed to calm the inevitable hecticness of the day.
Morgan & CarleyWedding with wood-fired pizzas + custom cakesAdam & his team were very easy and flexible to work with. They were accommodating to our change in schedule and showed up ready to go! The doughnuts were delicious!
Sarah Smith, boompopOperations Manager · 3 corporate mealsAbsolutely awesome experience working with Adam! Delicious food, great guy, super vegan, awesome staff. He's resourceful, responsive, and truly cares about making your day extremely special.
Adam was very communicative throughout the process and he really nailed the menu right away. He also worked closely with our venue (which was not full-service and lacks a kitchen), and coordinated all of the logistics with them.
Adam's wife, Joey, made the most stunning wedding cake I've ever seen in person.
My extended family have attended several events hosted by The Cinnamon Snail and vegan or not my family was sold on every level. From presentation, flavor, serving size and general professionalism, they are simply the best.

Love Is a Buffet-field
Vegan wedding catering that feels like your wedding, not a dietary accommodation

Look. You didn't get engaged so you could serve "the vegan option" from some caterer who has a freezer that looks like a morgue.
Every menu starts from a blank page and the two of you. Where you grew up. What your families cook. The dish you ate on your first date.
Then we collaborate to build you the menu of your dreams that your guests will actually be receptive to.
- More passed apps your groomsmen stalk like seagulls on a boardwalk.
- More "wait, this is VEGAN?" from your future father-in-law.
- Fewer eye rolls, and wayyyy more eyes rolling back in complete ecstasy.

Cake On Me. (...cake me on)
Custom vegan wedding cakes that taste as good as they look
Ever had wedding cake that looked like a Pinterest board and tasted like a scented candle?
Yeah. Not at yours.
Cake design artist Joey Sobel (my wife, and the most talented person in our house) builds every cake around your story and your event colors. Natural ingredients. Plant-based colors. Zero premade fondant that smells like the level of artificial vanilla you've gotten hit with by twenty 13-year-old girls at the last bat mitzvah you attended. Joey's cakes are available only to our catering clients.

Office Spice
Plant-based corporate catering for 100+ people
Feeding 150 people, where 23 of them have dietary restrictions you'll find out about at 11:52am?
Plant-based is the one menu almost everybody can eat.
Team lunches, breakfasts, product launches, grand openings and brand activations. We can add branded paper goods and custom-branded desserts.
Past work includes custom doughnuts for the New York Mets, New York Rangers, The Daily Show, Wu-Tang Clan and Phish, plus 3 days of full meals for 250+ people at Monday.com.

Hold On There, Tiger
This isn't for everybody. And that's on purpose.
I only take 2 events a month.
So yes, I'm picky. (In a nice way. Like a golden retriever with a clipboard.)
Adam, Why TF Are You So Picky?
I develop every menu, and even the recipes, for each client. Then I prep every single item myself. That's the only way I know to make sure your grandmother's first vegan meal is a total banger.
We're a fit if:
- Your wedding or event has 100+ guests
- You want food people talk about for years, not just "something vegan"
- Your event is in New Jersey or New York (elsewhere in the US? Ask.)
- You want a chef who's in it with you, from first call to last plate
- You're hunting for the cheapest tray of pasta salad in the tri-state area. (Totally fine. I'm just not your guy for that, OK?)
The fine print, but nice
What every Cinnamon Snail event comes with
- A 100% custom menu from an award-winning vegan chef
- Every menu item prepped by me personally
- Me, on site, at your event
- Experienced, friendly staff who've worked with me for years
- Coordination with your venue, planner and vendors, including venues with no kitchen
- A clear rundown of what I bring, what your venue or rental company provides, and when it all happens
- White-glove care for guests with allergies or dietary needs
- Fully licensed and insured
- A kitchen that skips disposable plastic, composts, recycles fryer oil, and uses cleaning supplies never tested on animals
Preferred catering partner
Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve
Planning a wedding or event at Tamerlaine in Sussex County, NJ? We're their preferred catering partner. Your menu matches the whole point of the place, with rescued goats and roosters like these two hanging out nearby.
Born to Cater
Vegan catering across New Jersey and New York
We're based in Red Bank, NJ. Most of our weddings and events happen right here in the Garden State and across New York.
New Jersey
From the Jersey Shore to North Jersey.
New York
Somewhere else?
I can cater anywhere in the US, and we've catered as far as California. If your event is outside NJ or NY, ask on the call.
The great cake airlift
One time, my team and I flew a 200-person wedding cake out to Colorado, then finished and assembled it on site.
Each of us hugging a massive tier, inching through the TSA line at Newark Airport? Kiiiiinda crazy. But the cake came out amazing.
Hark! It's Me, Adam Sobel
From an award-winning NYC food truck to your reception
I've been cooking vegan food for 25+ years and catering since 2008.
In 2010, I launched The Cinnamon Snail food truck. New Yorkers lined up down the block for it, rain or shine, like it was handing out free concert tickets.
Along the way I wrote a cookbook, Street Vegan, and taught plant-based cooking at culinary schools.
But that's not why I still cater.
A wedding is the biggest table most people will ever set for the friends and family in their lives. When 200 people who never think twice about vegan food leave asking for the recipe? That's a lot of plates without an animal on them.
A lot of opportunity for the yummiest, and most effective form of activism out there.

Good questions
Vegan catering questions, answered
Do you have a minimum guest count?
Yes. Since 2020, my minimum is 100 guests. That lets me give every event my full attention and keep every menu fully custom.
How many events do you take?
2 catering events a month, max. That's how I personally prep every dish and show up at every event. When a month's 2 spots are gone, they're gone.
What happens on the Rapid Fire Event Planner call?
In 30-40 minutes we cover your cuisine style, your service style (stations, buffet, family-style, plated), your venue and your guests. I'll tell you the most efficient way to pull off an event that blows away your guests' expectations of vegan food. Then I put together a custom menu proposal. The advice is yours either way.
Will meat-eaters like the food?
That's who I cook for. Most of the reviews on this page come from couples who were worried about exactly that.
Do you do tastings?
Yes, for booked clients. Because I develop the menu, and even the recipes, from scratch for every event, tastings happen once we're officially working together.
Can you cater a venue with no kitchen?
Yes. Barns, lofts, rooftops, backyards. I coordinate the setup with your venue and tell you exactly what's needed and who's bringing it.
Do you offer gluten-free menus?
Yes. We've done plenty of fully and partly gluten-free events, and nobody feels like they're missing anything.
Are you kosher?
For many years Cinnamon Snail was Kosher supervised. While we no longer pay to maintain certification, we use only certified Kosher ingredients in our cooking.
If you are planning an event which requires strict adherence to Kashrut standards, we are happy to work with the Rabbi of your choice to comply with your supervision.
Can I order just a wedding cake?
Right now, Joey's custom cakes are only available to our catering clients.
Where do you cater?
Mostly New Jersey and New York: the Jersey Shore to North Jersey, the 5 boroughs, Long Island, Westchester and the Hudson Valley. Somewhere else in the US? Ask on the call.
Can we rent your food truck?
The original Cinnamon Snail trucks were sold in 2020. My Galactic MegaStallion pop-up does local events only. Truck rentals for big events are possible but pricey, so ask on the call.
Should I Book or Should I Go?
I only accept 2 events a month. Let's see if yours is gonna be one of them.
Here's the deal.

Fair warning: if you keep shopping caterers who treat vegan food like an afterthought, you'll keep getting afterthought results. And your guests will keep "eating before, just in case." Seriously, screw that.
P.S. The short version: I'm a Vendy-winning vegan chef who takes 2 events a month, preps every dish myself, and shows up to run it with my dream team: the best, most professional and resourceful people I've worked with over nearly 3 decades in vegan kitchens. Your skeptical guests become the ones asking for seconds. The planning call is free and the advice is yours either way. The only way to lose is waiting until your date's gone.
P.P.S. Every wedding I cater puts incredible food in front of 100+ people who'd never order vegan on their own. That's my favorite kind of activism. And it tastes ridiculously good.
